Old Town Market Square

Rynek Staromiejski     more than a year ago
Smack bang in the middle of it all (kind of), the medieval market square of Toruń is home to a number of the city's most recognisable landmarks, all of which make up the medieval gothic centre that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. At its heart is the Old Town Hall, first built in the 13th century and is now open as an observation deck (the clock tower) and a fine art gallery. In front, the iconic Nicolaus Copernicus statue is located. In the north-west corner, you will find St. Mary's Church. Across, in the north-eastern corner, you will find a delightful monument to Filus, a beloved Polish comic book character. In the south-west corner is the Church of the Holy Spirit. Nearby, you will spy a Frog Fountain and Raftsman statue, with a local legend that will delight the children!
